Get involved

Mutt Scouts is an entirely volunteer-run organization. We cannot do the work we are so committed to doing without the help and support from our Mutt Scouts family.

We are always in need of extra hands. Every hour volunteered helps us rescue more dogs, respond to urgent cases, and support our foster network. You’ll gain experience, spend time around incredible dogs, and become part of a mission-driven community committed to giving second chances.

Current opportunities

There are so many ways to make a difference, whether you have a few hours a month or want to take on a larger role.

Adoption events are the best way for our community to meet our mutts, and we are always happy to have an extra set of hands. At our adoption events, safety is our number one priority. If you are a savvy dog handler, we would love to have you join us. Please note: dog handlers must be 18 years of age or older.

Adoption events

We regularly need volunteers to shuttle our mutts to their foster and forever homes, to adoption events, or to vet appointments. These needs often come up at the last minute, and the best way to look for transport opportunities is in our Instagram Stories. If you regularly drive between Los Angeles and San Diego, we need you!

Transport

One of the most important parts of the adoption process is a thorough home check to make sure the new home is safe and secure for a dog. You will be trained by one of our Mutt Scouts coordinators. We need volunteers all over Southern California for this position.

Mutt Scouts is looking for a responsible, detail-oriented and computer-savvy individual to assist us in uploading and filing medical records and registering microchips. Additionally, the Records Manager would keep track of adoption contracts and fees.

Mutt Scouts needs help in all of our fundraising and marketing affairs. You will work with us to identify and execute marketing campaigns for our dog rescue events, programs, and adoptable animals. If you’re an event planner, we welcome new ideas and help in setting up live fundraising events in Southern California.
